Who is absent from positions of power and prestige? A look at most colleges and universities, most corporations and law firms, and most government offices makes clear what the data show: white women and men and women of color are rare. The underlying reasons have to do with our cognition (how we think and reason about different groups) and with our procedures. This talk reviews the underlying reasons and suggests actions to make our institutions more inclusive and stronger.
